Reach for the Stars...
Fall state championships went very well with an all around of 33.100! At the end of the day Malea said, "mom I am proud of myself!" What more can a mom ask for? She was solid on everything, no falls, made her back handspring, landed her dismount on beam...it was a good day. Now what, well we start breaking everything back down and making it better for spring season.

Its a "stick"
Sectionals was amazing!!! Maleas all around was her highest at 33.95 and she is off to compete at state in 2 weekes!!! All 3 of the girls qualified for state and even had a "stick" yesterday...meaning non of them fell on any of their events! So proud and so excited, it has been a fun season, a learning season with some adjustments as well. Working out in a smaller gym I think it shows that nothing can hold these girls back and Coach Rae has been amazing all the way through!

Over The Top
What an exciting day! Not only for a mother but for Malea as well...This was probably the best meet we have ever been to put on by Summit Gymnastics! Our girls did an amazing job this weekend as well. As for Malea her floor routine I think was probably the best yet, she looked really strong out there and her round off backhand spring is getting so much better too. She had a little fall on beam which I was really surprised because she had been so solid during practice the last few weeks, but that's OK :)) vault and bars were good as well. When it came time for awards we were all so shocked....Malea for her bracket took a 4th, 3rd, 2nd and 1st a place ribbon. Then for her All Around she took a 2nd place medal....she was so excited she was glowing from ear to ear!!!! Then ran over and gave us all a hug as well. Scottie in her bracket took 1st place All Around and Maya took 4th place All Around! What a day and coach Rae was so proud of everyone of them....

Beaming
Malea had a great practice tonight, beam has become quite her strong point at the moment and she seems to be enjoying it as well. Did some mock runs and she did a great job, the best I have EVER seen her do. Her strength, determination, skill, and confidence has really progressed this season! So proud of her....

First one down....
The first meet has come and gone and Malea (all the girls) did amazing! Malea's all around score was a 32.2, that is actually her highest all around...except from state year where she ended her season with an all around of 33.05! She nailed her round-off backhand spring at the end of her floor routine, the best I have seen yet! There was some hard judging due to there being 2 USAG reps there for a clinic afterwards for the girls but it was still GREAT!!! The clinic taught some valuable lessons and we now know what we need to work on more before the next meet.
When it came time for the awards portion...(I hate this part cause there are always broken hearts) Malea is now in the Jr's categories, she was in child's last year so basically not as many metals given out. Malea totally understands, she knows that she would rather work HARDER for a medal that she deserved then just be given a medal due to "having" lots of medals to give out (8th, 9th, 10th place medals). Now that is a girl who is growing up...but I am sure in her heart she still loves medals though, who wouldn't?
We ended by going out to lunch at Red Robin with Nana where Malea ate like she had never eaten before, she started with a milk shake because she said that would beat any medal LOL, then 2 full meals...spaghetti with fries and the second was pizza with fries, you would think we starved the girl or something!!!!
All in all it was a great day, we had alot of fun and I think its going to be a great season as well...

Well here we go....
Well the they have practiced their routines, broke them down piece by piece, tumbled, active flexed till they were red in the face, hand stand after hand stand....are they ready? They are ready...they are strong...they can do this...they have done this before! Are they over analyzing some of their stuff, YES! Are their nerves a little high, YES! Will they do fine, YES! Because I believe if they are not having fun then why are they out there? Yes it is exciting to win, who does not want to win....but in the end FUN is what we need to be teaching them as well!!!!

Time 3
Well it seems that 3 is the magic number!!! Along with our gym name changing to Aryal Gymnastics, Malea will be competing with 2 of her old team mates Scottie and Maya..YAH!!!!! Its just so nice to see them at practice together working out, laughing, being girls...those 3 gt along so well its going to be a great season for them and we just cant wait! They got new jackets, pink ones that say Aryals Gymnastics across the back and their names on the front which they love and black bottoms.
We have 2 meets scheduled for the month of October already and the girls are working hard to get ready, one in the beginning and one at the end...I am getting USAG certified as well so this is a turning point for myself this year as well!
Our gym is going good, I love working with Rae, the website is up, facebook is up and I am maintaining that. Life is good! Malea loves her new school as well!!!!

Last Team Party
W had our last team party on Friday, all the girls together one last time, it was really nice! Malea brought flowers for both of her coach's...her idea, she loves them both so much! She will continue to work with coach Rae this next year and will see coach Tammy due to being friends with Aria so life will not end at age 10yrs old LOL!!! Each of the girls got to pick out a trophy from the years of competing as a team which meant alot to them...I think it was more emotional for the coach's if anything since they are the ones that have seen the girls grow as gymnasts. But no matter where they go or who they compete for Rae and Tammy will somehow ALWAYS be in their lives...Malea's for sure!

How to say goodbye
This Friday comes the end of one chapter and the beginning of a new one. Our gym as we know it will be saying goodbye to all the team girls as GymStarz will no longer be offering competitive gymnastics just preschool, tummbling, trampoline and rec. At first Malea (well all the girls) had a hard time digesting the information since most of them have only been with GymStarz. It was not an east desition to make for the owners since for most of the girls they have watched them grow up....But its going to be okay!!! I will continue to work for GymStarz which I am very blessed at that...teaching all the classes along side Rae the owner. Malea if you are all wondering will actually compete this next season (second level 4) under the GymStarz name, working out at the gym after school, tummbling with the classes and doing some one on one coaching time. I have prayed long and hard over this decision and it feels right and I feel its the right thing for Malea and its what SHE wants to do. She is not ready to go to another gym yet. After this season however she will be ready to train for level 5 and then we will have to begin that journey.....Until then she is excited and looking forward to competing under the GymStarz name even if she is the only one!

Flipping Fun Work
Malea's ongoing struggles have now turned into some fun for her...thank goodness! Her backhand springs are coming along on the tumble track very nicely as you can see...3 in a row even! As the coach's even say if your not having fun too behind what you are doing then you are only going to be stressed out all the time and that is EXACTLY what was going on. So with a little fun on the side and some encouragement along the way this girl may just blow us out of the water yet!

A Gymnasts Prayer
Dear Lord, I bring to You My humble gymnast prayer; As I snuggle into bed with my favorite gym bear. I thank You for my hands All covered in painful rips; My sore knees, calloused feet And the bruises on my hips. I thank You for my leos and my grips and my wraps. For blessing me with power strength and grace, For giving me the determination and resolve to do what it takes. To get up and shake it off when I've made a mistake Watch over me Dear Lord as I swing on the bars, Clear hips and giants that reach toward the stars. Stand beside me Lord as I wobble on the beam, Grant sticky feet and pointed toes for the entire team. Push me as I run toward the vault so Up and over with straight legs for that perfect stick Remind me to look Lord at the judges and smile Lift up my leaps and help me perform with style Thank you for my Parents that give their support So much love, time and money to my costly sport But tonight Lord hear my one last request, Thanks all of my coaches for that I feel so blessed. They teach me so much more than just routines and drills, But the courage and resilience needed to learn my new skills. Now as I fall to sleep and my dreams start to unfold, they're filled with visions of medals all bronze, silver and Gold!
hello to all
Due to some technical issues I have decided to switch over to a blog instead of a website, it is more user friendly and I think we all may like it a little better. It will take me some time to get everything up and running but in the end I hope you will all enjoy this site. Pass it on and please register so you can all stay updated. Thank you all for your patience and happy handstands!!!!
