Reach for the Stars...
Fall state championships went very well with an all around of 33.100! At the end of the day Malea said, "mom I am proud of myself!" What more can a mom ask for? She was solid on everything, no falls, made her back handspring, landed her dismount on beam...it was a good day. Now what, well we start breaking everything back down and making it better for spring season.

Its a "stick"
Sectionals was amazing!!! Maleas all around was her highest at 33.95 and she is off to compete at state in 2 weekes!!! All 3 of the girls qualified for state and even had a "stick" yesterday...meaning non of them fell on any of their events! So proud and so excited, it has been a fun season, a learning season with some adjustments as well. Working out in a smaller gym I think it shows that nothing can hold these girls back and Coach Rae has been amazing all the way through!

Over The Top
What an exciting day! Not only for a mother but for Malea as well...This was probably the best meet we have ever been to put on by Summit Gymnastics! Our girls did an amazing job this weekend as well. As for Malea her floor routine I think was probably the best yet, she looked really strong out there and her round off backhand spring is getting so much better too. She had a little fall on beam which I was really surprised because she had been so solid during practice the last few weeks, but that's OK :)) vault and bars were good as well. When it came time for awards we were all so shocked....Malea for her bracket took a 4th, 3rd, 2nd and 1st a place ribbon. Then for her All Around she took a 2nd place medal....she was so excited she was glowing from ear to ear!!!! Then ran over and gave us all a hug as well. Scottie in her bracket took 1st place All Around and Maya took 4th place All Around! What a day and coach Rae was so proud of everyone of them....

Beaming
Malea had a great practice tonight, beam has become quite her strong point at the moment and she seems to be enjoying it as well. Did some mock runs and she did a great job, the best I have EVER seen her do. Her strength, determination, skill, and confidence has really progressed this season! So proud of her....

First one down....
The first meet has come and gone and Malea (all the girls) did amazing! Malea's all around score was a 32.2, that is actually her highest all around...except from state year where she ended her season with an all around of 33.05! She nailed her round-off backhand spring at the end of her floor routine, the best I have seen yet! There was some hard judging due to there being 2 USAG reps there for a clinic afterwards for the girls but it was still GREAT!!! The clinic taught some valuable lessons and we now know what we need to work on more before the next meet.
When it came time for the awards portion...(I hate this part cause there are always broken hearts) Malea is now in the Jr's categories, she was in child's last year so basically not as many metals given out. Malea totally understands, she knows that she would rather work HARDER for a medal that she deserved then just be given a medal due to "having" lots of medals to give out (8th, 9th, 10th place medals). Now that is a girl who is growing up...but I am sure in her heart she still loves medals though, who wouldn't?
We ended by going out to lunch at Red Robin with Nana where Malea ate like she had never eaten before, she started with a milk shake because she said that would beat any medal LOL, then 2 full meals...spaghetti with fries and the second was pizza with fries, you would think we starved the girl or something!!!!
All in all it was a great day, we had alot of fun and I think its going to be a great season as well...

Well here we go....
Well the they have practiced their routines, broke them down piece by piece, tumbled, active flexed till they were red in the face, hand stand after hand stand....are they ready? They are ready...they are strong...they can do this...they have done this before! Are they over analyzing some of their stuff, YES! Are their nerves a little high, YES! Will they do fine, YES! Because I believe if they are not having fun then why are they out there? Yes it is exciting to win, who does not want to win....but in the end FUN is what we need to be teaching them as well!!!!
